Anderson Lake, Morgan Hill | Surrounded by thousands of acres of parklands, this vast lake area is under renovation until 2030—but what many don’t realize is that several hiking trails accessible from Holiday Drive are still open, affording spectacular panoramas of the largest reservoir in Santa Clara County.

Calero Lake, South San Jose | Occupying one of the South Bay’s largest regional parks, this lake nestled in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains is bordered by a network of trails usable by cyclists, hikers, and equestrians alike, delivering soothing views across the unruffled, mirror-like surface.

6. Lexington Reservoir, Los Gatos | Open to fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, this massive manmade lakesandwiched between some of the South Bay’s most scenic open spaces is the perfect choice for adventurers needing a water-based, nature-forward getaway.
