Celebrate the beauty of the season at some of the Bay Area’s top springtime destinations with this exciting lineup of events:
Magnolia & Cherry Blossoms | Golden Gate Park, San Francisco
From now through the end of March marks peak viewing season for the myriad magnolia trees at San Francisco Botanical Garden, most of which are concentrated in three distinct zones within the garden. And from March through April, you can observe the frothy pink beauty of thousands of cherry blossoms at the Japanese Tea Garden. PRO TIP: check online for bloom highlights of the week.
March Tour & Spring Workshop | Gamble Garden, Palo Alto
If you have 90 minutes to spare, the historic gardens of Elizabeth F. Gamble offer you the opportunity to unwind in the beauty of Miss Gamble’s stunning camellia collection during the annual March Tour on March 17 from 1:30-3:00PM. For hands-on learning, swing by for professional flower arranging and guidance at the Celebrate Spring! floral workshop on March 21 from 9:30-11:30AM (be sure to register by March 16).
Free Tulip Day | Union Square, San Francisco
Thousands of Dutch bulbs inundate Union Square with brilliant colors in this annual San Francisco tradition, where attendees are permitted to pick their own bouquet of spring beauty at no cost. This year’s event is on March 21 from 1:00-4:30PM, but I suggest arriving early to beat the crowds.
Member Mornings | Filoli, Woodside
From now through the end of May, Filoli members can enjoy an early jaunt through the magnificent estate house and gardens from 9:00-10:00 on weekend mornings. Relax among breathtaking flowers and calming birdsong unbothered by crowds during this extraordinary opportunity. Not a member yet? I highly recommend it.
If you know of other fantastic floral attractions nearby, let me know! I’m always looking for more springtime adventures.
