6 Mainstay Restaurants In The Top 100

Over the last thirty years, the San Francisco Chronicle has helped foodies sift through the many, many eclectic dining establishments of the Bay Area by highlighting the cream of the crop in its annual list of Top 100 Restaurants.

Six of these names have appeared again and again on this list through the years, and I think they deserve a shout-out (spoiler: they’re all located in San Francisco):

Zuni Cafe

Appearing in the Top 100 over 25 times, this triangular eatery on Market Street is known far and wide for its incomparable roast chicken. Locals also adore the kitchen-like atmosphere and towers of French fries.

The House Of Prime Rib

A staple since the 1940s, this establishment has made it to the Top 100 nearly 20 times and blends old-fashioned English décor with its signature 21-day roast beef. Plan your visit far ahead; it’s almost impossible to get a reservation!

Delfina

Tying with The House of Prime Rib for Top 100 appearances, this beloved Mission District go-to is a force to be reckoned with: it’s won top awards, produced world-famous pizza, and singlehandedly invented California-Italian cuisine.

Quince

This Jackson Square establishment holds multiple Michelin stars and 17 appearances on the Top 100. It’s equally acclaimed for elegant, European-inflected fare and its popularity amongst celebrities, moguls, and global personalities.

Aziza

Recurring 15 times on the Top 100, this hotspot showcases a Michelin-rated take on Moroccan dishes, making it a foodie mecca within the Richmond District.

La Taqueria

This lowkey hangout is all about classic Mexican burritos done extraordinarily well. One of the more humble locations on the list, the diner has nonetheless made it 14 times to the Top 100.

The Bay Area is more than one of the great food capitals of the world; it’s also a dynamic, ever-changing, always-exciting place to call home. Let me know if you’d like some guidance finding your way around!
