Best Local Gardens To Enjoy This Spring

Springtime is upon us, and one of my favorite activities this time of year is visiting at least one of the many beautiful gardens throughout the Bay Area. Here are a few places where you can enjoy some of the prettiest blooms of the season:

San Jose Municipal Rose Garden

The San Jose Municipal Rose Garden features over 3,500 individual plants from 189 different rose varieties. This garden is perfect for an afternoon picnic in the park—and the thousands of roses smell sooo delicious!

Filoli Historic House and Garden

This massive estate nestled in the enclave of Woodside is ideal for experiencing the change of seasons. Lose yourself amongst beds teeming with tulips and daffodils, and check out the Sunken Garden to spy edible formations of fruit, veggies, and herbs!

Gamble Garden

Tucked into the heart of Palo Alto, this extensive garden is something to behold. Featuring 26 separate zones filled with flowering blooms, shrubbery, trees, and more, Gamble Garden is ripe for exploration. Top stops include the Rose Garden, Formal Herb Garden, and Wisteria Garden.

Japanese Friendship Garden

Situated in San Jose’s Little Saigon, this haven is not only a stunning Japanese garden, but also symbolizes the lasting relationship between San Jose and its sister city of Okayama, Japan. Stroll around the serene koi pond and enjoy the vibrant mix of bonsai plants and waterfalls.
